Horse Cycles of Brooklyn is trying something new. They’re taking to Kickstarter to help bring their manufacturing costs down to offer more bikes to more people. If you want the feeling of getting a custom built bike for a not so custom price, this might be for you. Keep in mind, these bikes aren’t custom. Horse Cycles is offering three sizes of frames to choose from in this Kickstarter campaign.
I think that this is an interesting way of getting more sales for a small bike manufacturer. Kickstarter is a great audience for this type of trial. All it takes is an understanding of your material costs with increased demand, some quick calculations and some time to start the Kickstarter campaign. Toss in some luck and the right crowd and something new might happen. This project is close to being fully funded so head on over and see if there is a way you could help.
